Thanks. This was done for a friend. She likes how I paint but prefers more traditional imagery to surrealism.

This is a beautiful example of color and form. I think it describes Florida quite accurately with the sunshine and the bright blue water, a comforting place. :D Definitely a masterpiece, great job! :+favlove:

Thanks. Florida can be quite boring at times. It's too flat and there's not much in the way of changing seasons.

No problem:) I just don't like all the pine trees around here... But far South Florida and North Florida have some very pretty places.. I just have to drive an hour or more to see them;P

Thank you. I guess I was able to interject a bit of fantasy/surreal magic into this more traditional landscape to a degree.

Thank you. This was a commission for a friend who wanted a more traditional landscape. You can actually see places similar to this in Florida. Most of my paintings are 'mind-scapes'. They're embellished landscapes which are based loosely on actual places.

Hi James,
This is really beautiful. Could I make a request for you submit it to the Puzzle Arcade Groups Gallery. This would make such a beautiful image in the puzzle program and I think it would be a very popular download on the website.

I belong to several web site competition teams and I am thinking of putting the group's website into a couple of them.
This will give the member's work more exposure through these comps also.

Lynn :)

Hi James,
thank you so much for submitting my request for Florida Scene. I really appreciate it. I did want to let you know It may take a little while to get it done and up on the website. I had more submissions this week into the gallery than I expected.

I love it, the reflection-light on the water is unbelievably amazing. This caught my eye, I'm a floridian; it really does capture the esque, the sky and all.
It almost has a vibe of cedar key, maybe a hint of marsh-i-ness before the plain open sea? amazing work, as is all of your gallery

Thank you.
Yes, it's supposed to be a Florida estuary landscape because estuaries include both the beach as well as having a marsh kind of look to it.

Thanks. Florida is an influence when it comes to its dramatic cloud formations, heat lightning and large unusual tropical plants but I'd rather live in the British Isles.

It's not representative of my usual more surreal/fantasy landscapes but I'm glad you like it. Plus, there are actual places like this in Florida if you know where to look.

The sunlight and sunbeams are fantastic. Something very optimistic about this one. Nice use of blues and lilacs.

Thanks. I didn't know if my friend Mary who commissioned this painting would want one of my brooding dark skies that I so often do. She's my mom's age (late 70's) so I figured that she would want something cheerier. She really liked it a lot, so I'm pleased.
I have another large commission to do next. Unfortunately, I won't have time to do a Halloween themed painting this year but I hope to get back to my usual artwork in November.

Thanks. I painted this for my friend Mary who wanted a Florida scene with a cottage in it. I found a photo of a cottage in dappled sunshine and used that to go by. It was a suburban scene, though. I thought it would look more like Florida to place it along an estuary near the bay instead.
